Joanne Lockwood is an internationally recognised keynote speaker, inclusion and belonging specialist, consultant, facilitator, podcast host, and founder of SEE Change Happen Ltd. She helps organisations create workplace cultures where people can thrive by turning inclusion from aspiration into practical action.
Over the past nine years, Joanne has partnered with more than 200 organisations and delivered over 1,000 keynotes, workshops, leadership programmes and conference sessions across the UK and internationally. Her clients range from global brands and FTSE 100 organisations to public sector bodies, charities, and professional associations.
Before establishing SEE Change Happen, Joanne enjoyed a successful career spanning more than two decades in IT and STEM. Her experience includes serving in the Royal Air Force, building cable television networks across the UK, leading technology businesses, and delivering complex technology solutions for organisations including Coutts, NM Schroder Financial Management and Royal & Sun Alliance. This technical background gives her a distinctive perspective on leadership, organisational culture and the human impact of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Today, Joanne advises organisations on inclusive leadership, workplace culture, psychological safety, belonging, inclusive recruitment, allyship, inclusive communication and the future of work. She also helps organisations develop inclusive policies, leadership capability and sustainable strategies that improve candidate, employee and customer experiences.
Alongside her consultancy work, Joanne hosts the award-winning Inclusion Bites podcast, featuring more than 240 conversations with inclusion practitioners, business leaders and changemakers from around the world. She is also a regular writer for leading HR and workplace publications, including HRZone, The HRD, TrainingZone and WorkLife.
Joanne brings lived experience as a transgender woman but leads with professional expertise rather than personal identity. Her experience of navigating significant change provides valuable insight into the realities of workplace culture, belonging and leadership, complementing decades of commercial and technical experience.
Known for her warm, practical and thought-provoking style, Joanne’s sessions avoid blame or judgement. Instead, she challenges assumptions, encourages curiosity and equips audiences with practical actions that create lasting organisational change. Her approach is guided by her long-standing mantra: Smile | Engage | Educate, and by her belief in creating #PositivePeopleExperiences for everyone.
Joanne is a Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association (FPSA), a member of the Institute of Equality and Diversity Professionals (IEDP) and has been recognised as one of the Top 200 Biggest Voices in Leadership by Leaders Hum, one of People Hum’s Top 15 Diversity & Inclusion Thought Leaders, and one of Diverse In’s 125 People to Follow on LinkedIn About Diversity & Inclusion. She also featured in Channel 4’s acclaimed documentary The Making of Me, chronicling her personal transition over three years.
Whether speaking on inclusive leadership, AI and the future of work, workplace belonging, psychological safety or culture change, Joanne leaves audiences with practical ideas, fresh perspectives, and the confidence to create more inclusive workplaces where everyone can succeed.
