Keynote Talks & Presentations
The Glass Cliff – why we see so few success stories of women in leadership: Building on 20 years of international research, as well as her critically acclaimed book and TED Talk on the topic, Sophie Williams explores and explains the rigged test of leadership, and asks if we’re really setting female leaders up for success (and how we can show up better for and with them).
Anti-Racism and Allyship in the workplace: when simply not being racist is not enough, what can organisations, and employees at all levels, do to embrace, incorporate and elevate anti-racism and allyship into their working practices?
Black History Month: What is Black History month, why does it matter, and why do we celebrate it? Sophie Williams looks at the history of BHM, the progress we’ve made, and the work that lies ahead of us to make truly inclusive and equitable cultures. Highlighting often overlooked figures within the movement, past and present, we celebrate, remember, and plan for the future we want to build, together.
Intersectionality: Understanding intersectionality and the important role it plays in our lives, in and outside of the workplace. From the foundations of the term itself, to digging into the data and telling the stories that get lost when we don’t have an intersectional lens to our work, Sophie Williams shines a light on intersectional identities and reminds us why they matter in our equalities work at all levels. This session teaches us all to recognise ourselves as intersectional people, and to reframe the importance of intersectionality in each other.
Celebrating IWD – building on the official IWD theme each year, backed by the latest stats from each year’s United Nations’ Commission for the Status of Women conference, Sophie Williams discusses progress, potential, and what comes next in our work towards gender equality – giving actionable tips and guidance for people of all levels.
