Tobias grew up around the world, spending a third of his childhood in Asia. The cultural-sensitivity and global mindset he has developed means he appreciates the need for solutions to be tailored to the local environment and these characteristics also facilitate a deeper connection with his audiences around the world. Tobias has spoken to audiences in China, Singapore, South Korea and his native United Kingdom.

His recent documentary, ‘Denizen’, takes the viewer on a journey living with the indigenous communities of the Andes Mountain Range in some of the world’s most inhospitable locations and experiencing the devastation of their sources of food and income due to climate instability. Then, back in London we hear from leading behavioural economists and pioneering brands about how we can build a circular economy to resolve these issues. These are the sorts of stories and insights that Tobias shares to inspire and develop solutions.

Tobias is also a mountaineer and Ironman triathlete. He has climbed the highest volcanoes in the world and raced triathlons in some of the most challenging conditions. His ability to overcome challenges and create a habit of small wins which compound, motivates audiences and provides insights to support them in developing their own habit of success.

Some key elements of his USP:

  • Behavioural psychology expertise (by understanding how we make decisions, we can lead ourselves to choose better actions – resolving climate change and building a circular economy)
  • Corporate experience (worked with On Running and Adidas – insight into their business strategy for sustainability)
  • Highly engaging keynote format integrating speaking with memorable visuals (animations, cinematic footage, insights from key figures – I am a film director)
  • Global perspective (lived in Asia for 1/3 of my childhood with Singapore as a base currently, I speak Spanish and lived in South America for a few months)

Some key topics:

  • Building the circular economy
  • Automating sustainability
  • Be a choice architect – structuring your environment to be successful by default

Some key takeaways:

  • Understanding of how we make decisions, including key behavioural psychology concepts like dual-systems thinking, defaults and atomic habits
  • “It’s possible – we can do the same” mindset shift – inspiration from seeing large corporations like On and Adidas building the circular economy through pioneering sustainable business strategies. Telling people what to do leads to apathy. Showing them what others have done leads to the changing of industries.
  • How to act sustainably without having to think or work too hard.
  • Choice architecture –  how to restructure your/your customer’s decision environment to make better (more informed, healthier, more sustainable) decisions.
