Ruth Buscombe

Ruth Buscombe is a highly respected British Motorsport Engineer, best known for her work as a Race Strategist in Formula 1. She is an engaging keynote speaker, speaking on leadership, diversity, and inclusion. As one of the industry’s most successful female engineering leaders, she now advocates for women in STEM and Motorsports.

Ruth’s motorsport journey began immediately after graduating from the University of Cambridge where she earned a first-class degree in Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering. Her F1 journey began at Scuderia Ferrari, where she worked as a Simulation Development Engineer. Her time at Ferrari was pivotal, exposing her to the intense and fast-paced environment of Formula 1, and preparing her for future roles in the sport. Since her time at Ferrari Ruth has worked in other F1 teams such as Haas as Trackside Engineer and Sauber Motorsport where she was Head of Race Strategy. Ruth played a part in the race-winning tactics that secured Sebastian Vettel’s first win with Ferrari in 2015. She now works as an Analyst, Strategist, Presenter, and Commentator for Formula 1 and F1 TV, bringing insight into race-defining strategies to viewers worldwide.

Beyond her technical expertise, Ruth has had an extremely positive impact on F1 and is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in the motorsport industry. She has been a vocal supporter of initiatives that encourage women and underrepresented groups to pursue careers in engineering and motorsport, she is currently an Ambassador for the FIA Girls on Track Initiative and before this has been an ambassador for Susie Wolff’s Dare to be Different.

As a keynote speaker she brings unparalleled insights into the data-driven world of F1, as well as speaking on leadership in high-performance teams as well as advocating for diversity and inclusion in STEM and Motorsport. Ruth connects with a wide range of audiences and is dedicated to inspire young girls to get involved in motorsports, as well as providing educational insights on data analysis. Most recently, she was a featured speaker on a panel at the F1 Global Summit. The blend of her technical expertise, her experience from her time in F1 and her dedication to making F1 become a more inclusive community makes for an engaging and motivational presentation.
