Specialised Duty of Care Psychologist & Psychotherapist:

Charlotte works across a range of programming formats including scripted, documentary and reality tv, however Charlotte predominately works on high-risk reality TV productions and true crime documentaries. Charlotte was the duty of care psychologist for Big Brother 2023 and is currently working on Celebrity Big Brother. In addition to this she has worked on Celebs Go Dating, Celebrity Ex on the Beach, TOWIE, Made in Chelsea, Heartstopper and many true crime productions. Charlotte’s on screen appearances range from news outlets, morning shows and documentaries.

In 2023 Dr Charlotte set up a National Awareness Day called No Phones at Home. This awareness day is to educate parents and those with child caring responsibilities about the impact that devices can have on child development, mental health and wellbeing. This work has now spread to working with councils to integrate into training for teachers, that can be cascaded through schools. Dr Charlotte is currently writing a book which will be due for release later this year.

Charlotte has a professional doctorate in psychology (Psy.D). She is a Chartered Scientist (CSci) with the Science Council, a Registered Integrative Psychotherapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), a Criminologist with full academic membership to the British Society of Criminology (BSC), an Accredited Business Psychologist holding principal practitioner status with the Association of Business Psychologists (PPABP), and a Duty of Care Psychologist (GMBPsS) and member of the Media Ethics Advisory Board of the British Psychological Society .

With practices on Harley Street, London and Leeds, Charlotte works with clients in both the North and South of the country. She also works online, on-set in the UK and internationally where required. Her film & TV clinic offers support for those working across the media sector.

As a psychologist and psychotherapist in the media, Charlotte has worked as the onscreen psychologist for BBC News, Talk TV and various TV documentaries. Most recently she was the psychotherapist for BBC2’s ‘Beauty & The Bleach’ documentary exploring colourism with Tan France. She has filmed for Hollyoaks IRL discussing Incels, for two Channel 5 documentaries, and for a 3 part crime documentary series for C4 which will TX in 2024.

Business Psychologist:

Throughout her 20 year career working in psychology and mental health, in addition to her work in film & TV, Charlotte has worked across a range of different settings. Charlotte worked for the National Policing Improvement Agency (now called College of Policing), an organisation responsible for setting policing standards in England, Wales and NI. She worked in occupational psychology assisting with the design and delivery of police examination processes. Charlotte continues to work as a business psychologist and psychotherapist across the corporate sector. She has delivered psychological interventions for organisations such as Cleary Gottleib, Lockheed Martin, HSBC, Barclays, Deloitte, Squire Patton Boggs, UBS, Allen & Avery, Ernst & Young, to name just a few. 

Clinical & Forensic Psychotherapy:

As a mental health clinician, Charlotte has worked in the NHS in Community Mental Health Services as part of her doctoral training and as a psychologist in the Clinical Psychology team in a Neurological Rehabilitation ward. In addition to this she has worked in third sector mental health services as a psychotherapist and has been on the board of directors for two large mental health charities. Charlotte has and continues to deliver psychological interventions within primary and secondary schools, working with children with challenging behaviours and mental health problems.

Through her work as a forensic psychotherapist, Charlotte has worked with the legal teams, families and victims affected by crime including; rape, sexual assault, murder, child abduction and murder, kidnapping, death by dangerous driving, knife crime, anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, and adult survivors of child sexual abuse.

Through her private practice, Charlotte works with a variety of presentations. She is passionate about analysing parent and family dynamics with the aim of facilitating behavioural changes to help the family unit function more healthily. She is also passionate about the aetiology of psychopathologies and the relationship to criminal behaviours.

Award Winning Entrepreneur:

As a multi-award winning businesswoman, Charlotte was named by Business Insider as one of the top ten BAME female entrepreneurs in Europe to watch in 2020. In 2021, Charlotte’s mental health clinic was voted by TechRound as one of the top 21 mental health businesses in the UK. In 2022, Charlotte was named as 50 under 50 BAME business people to watch.

Charlotte is the Managing Director of the YAFTA Group of companies which offers education for the film and TV industry and uses arts education in schools to support psychological development. YAFTA Talent Agency supports a diverse range of actors and represents a number of artists who have made history in recent years for becoming the first artists with disabilities to secure lead roles in Coronation Street, to win an NTA and to star in an Oscar winning film. In 2019, Charlotte won Director of the Year for Diversity and Inclusion at the Institute of Directors Awards for her work campaigning for fair representation on screen.

Charlotte is a member of the Media Ethics Advisory Group for the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is involved in developing policy and regulation for psychologists and those working in the media. She was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commence (FRSA) in 2019 for her widespread contribution to the Film & TV industry. Additionally, Charlotte is an associate member of BAFTA.

She took time to understand us as an organisation, as well as our aims for the programme, in order to tailor a presentation and discussion that was wholly appropriate for the audience.
