Simon’s journey began at SEGA, where he played a key role in launching Sonic the Hedgehog and drove record-breaking sales for Sonic 2, which remains one of the biggest software releases in the UK. His passion for disruption led him to Sky during its formative years under Rupert Murdoch, and then to Ginger Television, where he contributed to cult classics like TFI Friday and Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush. He also collaborated with Mike Lynch at Autonomy during the internet’s first wave, demonstrating a unique ability to merge creative media with emerging technologies.
In 2001, after facing personal struggles with addiction and successfully rebuilding his life through recovery, Simon co-founded LOVE Film. This innovative service transformed home entertainment in the UK with a customer-first approach and later laid the groundwork for Amazon Prime Video. What originally started as a brief handover evolved into an 11-year journey, with seven of those years spent working closely with Jeff Bezos as Amazon’s Chief Creative Officer. In this capacity, Simon was instrumental in driving Prime Video’s global expansion, launching Alexa, innovating with Kindle, and facilitating Amazon’s entry into international markets including India, Japan, and Australia. He also conceived the iconic Alexa Super Bowl campaign and earned a place in the UK Marketing Hall of Fame for his significant contributions to the industry.
Beyond his work at Amazon, Simon has co-founded enterprises like Football 365, provided strategic advice to consumer disruptors such as Graze and Tails.com, and partnered with renowned brands including LEGO. Currently, he chairs JAAQ, a mental health platform, is engaged with the Novel podcast company, and serves as a governor for the Museum of London.
What distinguishes Simon as a speaker is his unique combination of strategic frameworks and creative thinking, paired with his personal honesty. Audiences not only hear inspiring stories about building Sonic, Love Film, Prime Video, and Alexa but also gain insights into the mental models and systems he employs.
Having navigated both professional and personal challenges, Simon speaks with a rare authenticity. He shares valuable lessons on resilience, recovery, and reinvention, along with practical business insights. His talks motivate companies to adopt fresh perspectives, maintain a relentless focus on the customer, and transform challenges into opportunities for growth.
