Mo’s current roles as Director of Cricket at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Head of Sporting Intelligence at Derby County FC in the Championship division of the English Football League, see him uniquely positioned in leadership roles across two mainstream professional sports.
Previously, Mo spent twelve years with the England & Wales Cricket Board where he established England men’s talent identification system as the first ever Player Identification Lead, before spending four years as the England men’s Performance Director. In that time, England won both the 50-over and 20-over World Cups, becoming this first ever nation to hold both World Cups at the same time.
Mo’s professional background as a teacher, allied to his experience in elite sport, has enabled him to develop deep expertise within the areas of talent identification and talent development. He particularly enjoys leading high performing systems and offers unique perspectives on how teams can optimise strategy and culture in order to perform effectively under pressure.
Mo prides himself on his attention to detail and this is reflected in his efforts to tailor his insights and messaging according to his audience’s needs. For circumstances that are specifically complex, Mo can provide simple and precise solutions, and will demand and role model both excellence and optimism. Above all, Mo is a helper by nature and will demonstrate and advocate an empathetic and people-centred approach.
