Liz had always been interested in biology and chemistry at school and went on to study Biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin. After graduating, she started a career as a TV presenter working on light entertainment programmes before returning to her first love, Science. She then completed a Masters in Wild Animal Biology and Conservation.

Liz’s TV career has also drawn heavily on her academic expertise. Liz’s latest film Meat: A Threat to Our Planet? broadcast on BBC One in November 2019. Earlier that year, Liz presented Big Animal Surgery on BBC Two and in 2018, Liz was on our screens presenting the ground-breaking documentary Drowning in Plastic and Blue Planet Live, both on BBC One. Liz has recently presented a new podcast for BBC Radio Five Live called What Planet Are We On? which looks at the impact we are having on our planet and the practical solutions we can all adopt. Guests include Sir David Attenborough, Idris Elba, and Christiana Figueres.
In recent years Liz has been on our screens with the series Galapagos, Wild Alaska Live and the hugely successful Big Blue Live series shot in Monterey, California for the BBC and for PBS in the USA. In 2016 Liz was the focus of an episode of the genealogy series Who-Do-You-Think-You-Are? on BBC One and presented Should We Close Our Zoos for Horizon on BBC Two.
In addition to her TV work, Liz is a conference facilitator and awards host and has MCd various events, including most recently the UK’s National Science and Engineering Competition Awards and the Natural History Museum’s prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards.
