Deniz Aytekin

Deniz Aytekin is one of the world’s most revered football referees, voted DFB Referee of the Year 4 times throughout his illustrious career. A pivotal part of the German Bundesliga tournament, Deniz has gained respect at international stages such as FIFA. Deniz’s career has developed his unparalleled ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations, manage conflict effectively and lead with a level-head. Deniz is now available to share his expertise when booked to speak at corporate and other events.

Deniz’s began his journey as a referee for Bundesliga in 2008. Over the years, he developed decision-making skills that were vital to his role. In times that Deniz had to deliver tough judgements whilst performing his duties as a referee for FIFA, he used tact, authenticity and empathy. He is the subject of the book “Respekt ist Alles”, one that takes readers through his experience as a young referee in his first few years in the Bundesliga, navigating tough situations on the field with respect. Voted DFB Referee of the Year in 2024, he has also been a recipient of the award in 2022, 2019 and 2017 previously.

In 2022, Deniz announced his retirement from international refereeing and has since been refereeing at a national level in Germany. A leader on and off the field, Deniz is a seasoned entrepreneur. Currently, he dedicates his time as the Founder & Managing Director of DA Consulting, Anwalt.de, and Fitnessmarkt.de. These roles have contributed to his expertise in leadership and the art of decision making – on the field or in a corporate setting. Deniz is also the author of “Souverän entscheiden und führen: Was Führungskräfte von Schiedsrichtern lernen können”. The book highlights prominent lessons managers and entrepreneurs can learn from professional referees when it comes to leading with empathy, respect and sovereignty.

In 2023, Deniz received the Bavarian Order of Merit – bestowed upon him as a sign of grateful recognition for his achievements and services rendered to the state of Bavaria. Deniz is one of the most accomplished international referees and has transformed into an eloquent keynote speaker. His keynote speeches, lectures and seminars are pearls of wisdom that highlight the importance of leadership with appreciation, respect and courage.
