The last 3 years of Steve’s career has been spent as Managing Director of Surf Snowdonia, delivering, from initial idea to successful completion and operation, a £15 million ‘Wavegarden’ artificial inland surfing facility in North Wales, which has included the successful negotiation of a £4 million Welsh Government support package.

As Chief of Staff of the Army’s 2nd Division, Steve determined and directed the business objectives of a military audience of circa 20,000 troops, including budgetary control in excess of £80 million (excluding salaries). In this role, he was also the senior military focus in Scotland and Northern England for crisis planning in a civilian context across 45% of the UK mainland

From 2004 to 2005, he was a military adviser to His Excellency the President of Sierra Leone (President Kabbah) in rebuilding his Country’s Ministry of Defence in the wake of the rebel war. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he was the Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion, The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment on operations in Northern Ireland (twice) and in Canada and Catterick.

As a speaker, Steve talks about how to build a culture of accountability, whilst being able to think strategically when manoeuvring thousands of employees and staff. Combining his military background with business acumen, Steve is an ideal speaker for large teams and senior audiences.

Please pass on my thanks to Steve – he was great today and his session went down really well with delegates. He was there for the whole event and was fully engaged throughout, networking and sharing his thoughts, ideas and experiences with those in attendance. His presentation and approach to his keynote at the end was great and topped off the event with some really thought provoking ideas and a fresh approach to workforce management and leadership that many may not have heard before.
