Stephanie Antonian helps leaders reframe AI as a catalyst for thriving, human-centred cultures. Drawing on experience at Google [x], DeepMind, and her independent AI lab Aestora, she shows organisations how to move past fear and build people-first strategies that spark clarity, collaboration, and decisive action.
Her path into AI is a story of bold, unexpected connections. After earning a Master’s in Biblical Studies, she discovered a passion for technology that led to strategy roles at Accenture and Google. Recognising AI’s growing societal impact, she was awarded the UK’s Frank Knox Fellowship in 2016 to pursue a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, specialising in data privacy.
This rare blend of theology, business, and policy placed her at the forefront of the emerging AI ethics movement. She joined DeepMind early, helping establish its ethics team, shaping the organisation’s responsible AI agenda, and conducting research for NASA. After taking time away for a deeply personal role as a palliative carer for her father, she returned to Alphabet to support social-justice initiatives at Google [x] (X, The Moonshot Factory), where she led projects and developed new concepts.
Seeking greater direct impact, she founded Aestora, her independent AI lab, creating tools such as the Digital Health Score and the Algorithmic Bias Eraser, each designed to champion a human-first approach to technology. Her essays on Aestora.com, exploring the intersection of AI and human values, have reached thousands of readers and positioned her as a distinct and trusted voice in the field. She continues to write, consult, and design, and is a Fellow at the Institute for the Future of Work.
