David enjoyed a very successful 30-year career in the world of media, but during that time, he was hiding something. Eventually in 2016, Daivd found the courage to open up about the most significant struggle of his life: his mental health. A secret battle with panic attacks meant years of torment and angst.

David’s decision to break his silence was one of the most significant moments of his life. Today, David’s business, Breaking The Silence, is regarded as one of the world’s leading advisors on mental health in the workplace. David has worked with leading global brands including HSBC, McDonald’s and Google.

In the UK, David has advised the likes of the NHS, the Labour Party, Sainsbury’s, the Mercedes Formula One team and the Royal Navy. He is a qualified mental health counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Practitioners (BACP). David has also been a trustee for Mind, the mental health charity. In 2024, David was recognised as one of the top global influencers in employee engagement by his peers.

Recently, David has been named as one of the Top 101 Global Influences on Employee Experience and the Future of Work.

‘David has been delivering wellbeing workshops for staff in our organisation for the past four years. The sessions have been so popular that many participants say they are the best workshops of their kind they have ever attended.’ Sarah Brewer, Head of Employee Experience at Public Health Wales.
‘We invited David to work with Yorkshire Housing to help us start a different type of conversation about mental health at work. David’s ability to connect with and inspire everyone he meets is a rare talent. His authenticity, personal vulnerability and natural gift for storytelling have helped us break the silence around mental health and address many barriers to people opening up.’ Nina Evison, Executive Director of Culture & Performance at Yorkshire Housing
