TP Tutors Apprenticeships

19 April 2023

TP Tutors is the tuition arm of Teaching Personnel, responsible for identifying quality tutors for local authority needs and schools across the UK. They hold the UK’s deepest well of tutoring talent.

For over two decades, TP Tutors have made small-group tutoring a reality for children of all backgrounds, and are ready to help schools and local authorities place high-impact tuition at the heart of the learning mix.

TP Tutors provide the right educators to span the whole course of a pupil’s learning journey, from tutors to learning support workers, mentors and SEND specialists.

TP Tutors have been given the opportunity to grow significantly over the next number of years. TP Tutors identified that enrolling potential managers onto an Apprenticeship programme was an opportunity for their employees to gain the right skills for future management opportunities.

The Challenge

TP Tutors Apprentices’, whilst having real passion for the company and the business side of the organisation, had a fear of managing people. The Apprentices needed a programme that would inspire them to learn and encourage them to want to manage others in order to progress in their careers.

The chosen delegates had skills that needed improvement, including time management, confidence, patience, communication and managing projects.

The Solution

The delegates were enrolled onto Raise the Bar’s Level 3 Excelling in Team Leadership Apprenticeship programme.

The programme focuses on:

  • Managing people
  • Leading people
  • Operational management
  • Communication
  • Behaviours
  • Planning and monitoring workloads and resources
  • Delivering operational plans
  • Building relationships
  • Problem solving
  • Management of self
  • Self-awareness
  • Decision making
  • Finance

The Outcome

As a result of the programme, delegates have been given more responsibilities, such as being promoted, managing more teams and given more projects to manage. The apprentices now have the skills, capability, knowledge and attitude to be able to do all of this in a way that will deliver outcomes. There’s also now more opportunities for others to showcase their skill sets and develop themselves to be potential managers in the future.

It  has been reported by the client that the delegates have grown in confidence, knowledge and their ability to pause and think about situations with others before responding. This  is now prominent within the teams, and the difference in culture and performance has been noted. The difference in the apprentices and their teams has had a  positive effect on the company and it’s employees.

I’ve seen our apprentices grow phenomenally since being on the programme. They’ve grown in confidence, knowledge and their ability to pause and think about situations with others before responding. It’s now really prominent within the teams, you can see the difference in culture and performance. The difference in our apprentices and their teams has had a real positive effect.

Since being on the programme I’ve learnt how to delegate, being able to know what doesn’t need my attention, what benefits I’m offering with my service, how I’m supporting my team and how to encourage other people to learn as well.

My learning and skills developed from this programme has inspired more of a change in culture within our team and we’re now a high performing team and people are always stepping up to new roles and taking on new responsibilities.

Having an organisation so well structured and tailored towards coaching was extremely important. We are really happy with Raise the Bar – as an organisation we’re all about coaching and nurturing versus training, so that was one of the key reasons for choosing them. We will definitely use Raise the Bar again for our people development.
